There’s a new addition to Long Beach’s food scene, and it’s one to keep on your radar.
Nestled into the neighborhood, Brother’s Keeper BBQ stands out with friendly staff and quick service. It’s an easy go-to for a meal on a sunny afternoon, at a space that feels welcoming and intentional.

Brother’s Keeper BBQ has been a presence in the city for several years and has now opened its first brick-and-mortar on 4th Street. Owner Mo Stewart started the business using recipes taught and passed down from his grandmother. Unfortunately, she passed before getting to see his dream come to life, but her influence continues to shape the heart of the business.
As many entrepreneurs know, opening a physical space takes time, long hours, and real sacrifice. For Mo, that has meant giving up time with his family to be present for the day-to-day demands of running the business and making sure everything operates smoothly. That level of commitment is something you can feel behind the scenes of the space.
Giulia and Dawn, from the Hunnibuzz team, got to try the brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, as well as the baked beans. The meat was perfectly tender, savory, and nicely seasoned, leaving us full without feeling too heavy.
After the meal we had to make some room for dessert. The banana pudding was a showstopper, with the right balance of sweetness and texture. It definitely had us thinking about ordering another.
